Sara Bishop
Candidate for Atherstone North

I have lived in Atherstone for 30 years. My children attended local schools and I also taught locally, at Atherstone North Middle School, which then became Racemeadow Primary. Until 2011 I worked for Warwickshire County Council as a School Improvement Adviser. I then worked as a self-employed educational consultant until retiring in 2016. I now work part-time as an artist. I was elected as a Town Councillor in May 2015.
Atherstone North Ward is likely to be most affected by future development around the town. I would work together with other Labour Councillors to;
- oppose over-intensification of housing and loss of amenity space
- support the continuing use of land occupied by Atherstone Town FC as a community facility
- ensure any future development is supported with necessary infrastructure
With continuing austerity at national government level, funding of our local services is under threat so the Borough Council must ensure good value for money and quality of service. I believe that the Borough Council should support and promote health and well-being of local residents, of all ages, through access to affordable local community facilities.
