Candidate for Hartshill
I lived in Hartshill as a teenager attending King Edward’s Sixth Form College. I moved to Brighton to study Geography at the University of Sussex. I was fortunate that I was eligible for a grant to continue my education and realise the importance of funding to encourage students from North Warwickshire into higher education.
I then worked in the Social Service for Brighton and Hove Council as a Day Care Officer for Older People with Mental Health problems, at a time when Care in the Community was being introduced. Day Care Centres become important places to monitor elderly people living in the community with dementia and schizophrenia.
I returned to Hartshill 16 years ago and have since worked as a Library Assistant for Coventry City Council. I then worked as a volunteer library assistant for Hartshill Community Library. I started an I.T. Club for residents that needed support with the growing technological demands of today’s life including; CV’s, online application forms, social media, searching the internet and setting up personal devices. I also held a Day of Code for residents to learn about coding in a fun way and assisted with the Summer Reading Scheme for children.
Working as agency in Call Centres I realise the need to train worker’s in I.T. for their future development. I went onto gain qualifications from Microsoft so that I was able to set up the infrastructure of a call centre.
