The ‘Right to food’ motion has been unanimously passed at January’s All Member Meeting.
The motion commits any future Labour-led councils to understand their responsibility in tackling food insecurity rather than do as current Conservative councils do by leaving it to mass charity coordination.
Progress of the motion as it stands;
1st December 2021 – Motion introduced at North Warwickshire South branch.
12th January 2022 – Executive Committee passed motion at monthly meeting held remotely.
24th January 2022 – Motion passed unanimously at AMM (All Member Meeting) held remotely.
Next stage – Coordinate with Nuneaton CLP (Constituency Labour Party) to pass the motion. As a shared authority, Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council requires both parties doing the same to cover all councillors and candidates.
“This motion is just the start of it. We can join others by writing to ask for the campaign’s 5 ‘asks’ to be considered in the White Paper this year but we will also be working with other local Labour parties to build plans that have an impact here at home.” – Simon Greenaway, Communications & Social Media Officer.
