Local member Emma sent this to our MP Craig Tracey on 11th January 2022.
Dear Craig Tracey
I, like many of the population, am disgusted by the behaviour of Boris Johnson. I hope that you have some decency, political parties aside, to hold this man to account on behalf of your constituents.
Many of us have put ours and our families’ lives at risk by working in Covid-19 ridden wards in hospitals, having to face our patient’s loved ones telling them that they cannot hold the hands of their seriously ill or dying family members, or not making it in time to support their partners in labour, or being there to help the mothers in the most critical time after birth.
You will never understand how scared that very first shift was as a healthcare professional at the beginning of the pandemic. A memory I will never forget as long as I live. Not knowing whether there would be adequate PPE or whether what we understood about the virus and how to try to protect ourselves and our families was correct.
Not to mention the extra work we have had to do to cover colleagues during the pandemic. Then of course, the funerals, weddings and any type of family gathering that has had to be cancelled or scaled down, all to adhere to the rules.
All the time, your colleagues are partying without a care in the world or any consideration to the rule breaking and the downright disrespectful attitude that has followed since.
I urge you to do the right thing and take this man to task over his disgraceful behaviour.
