“You are probably aware of the planning application by Hodgetts Estate to build on the fields between the M42 and Dordon /Birchmoor village. [see map below] At certain peak times , the number of HGVs going west along the A5 from this site could increase by 21%.
The Borough’s Local Plan [September 2021] says that this land should be kept as a “strategic gap” to clearly separate Tamworth from the villages of Dordon and Polesworth.
Hodgetts Estate argue that: –
- there is an urgent, regional need for more logistics and lorry sites in and around the M42 / A5
- their proposed changes to the landscape will enhance biodiversity and the natural environment.
- the need for logistics and a large lorry park outweighs the benefits of keeping ALL this land as a “strategic gap “
No decision has yet been made about this application. It is not a done deal – but it IS really important that local people make their views known now. There will not be another chance.
