The ‘Right to food’ motion has been voted on by the Executive Committee and will now head to this month’s All Member Meeting for the membership to vote on.
The motion introduced at North Warwickshire South branch late last year has seen widespread support in the local party. The second stage of the process meant that the Executive voted at the monthly meeting held remotely on 12th January.
If passed by the wider local party membership, it will then require Nuneaton CLP (Constituency Labour Party) doing the same so that all representatives and candidates for Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council are also committed to the policy. As the council is split between the Nuneaton constituency and the Bedworth & North Warwickshire constituency, this progress depends on cooperation that both parties engage in regularly.
“I look forward to the chance of putting this before the membership but many who have seen or voted on it agree it is integral policy of which Labour must champion for our communities” – Simon Greenaway, Comms & Social Media Officer.
