The residents of Atherstone have a new Town Councillor following a by-election held on Thursday 26th July. Labour’s Brian Henney secured over 60% of the vote, achieveing the highest Labour vote and majority in the ward since 1999.
Speaking after the result, Cllr Brian Henny said;
“I’d like to thank the residents of Atherstone Central who have put their faith in me to represent them in the months ahead. This result shows that people want change. Our town is a great place to live but local politicians have to do more to bring investment and public services into Atherstone.
“I’ll be working hard over the next few months to show the difference a Labour Councillor can make. Next May, local people will have the chance to elect a whole new Town and Borough Council. I’ll be making the case for a fantastic set of Labour candidates who will offer a radical and bold vision for our town and borough.”
