North Warwickshire Borough Council has announced it is extending the Local Plan consultation, due to end today, until Friday 16th March 2018.

The move, announced via email to Councillors, suggests that this is to enable the public to give their views on a number of new documents due to be published this week, including the long-awaited leisure review and a review of the meaningful gap.

Labour Group Leader, Cllr Adam Farrell said;

“I welcome this extended consultation period but questions must be asked about why the Council have waited until the very last minute to announce this extension. The new documents being consulted on, will have been known about for some time. Surely this decision could have been made sooner?

“It reeks of incompetence and local people will be wondering if the Council actually knows what it is doing. It’s a terrible shame because a once respected local Council is becoming a laughing stock.

“For now though, the important thing is to get more and more local people to respond to this consultation to ensure both the Council and the Planning Inspector know what a disastrous plan this would be for our Borough.”
