Local Polesworth County Councillor Dave Parsons, has welcomed a Planning Inspector’s decision to refuse an appeal that would have seen up to 40 homes built on land east of Pooley Lane.
The application was refused by North Warwickshire Borough Council’s Planning Committee but the developer appealed to the Planning Inspector.
The Planning inspector decided to refuse the application because there was a lack of affordable housing included in the proposals.
County Councillor, Dave Parsons;
“This decision is both welcome and concerning. It’s welcome because the inspector upheld the decision of Councillors but is concerning because the only reason for doing so was because of the lack of affordable housing. If the developer manages to deliver some affordable housing then who knows what could happen.
“I’m not opposed to new housing, particularly new affordable housing. The problem in Polesworth and the surrounding area is that the Council’s plan to build thousands and thousands of homes here, makes a smaller development like this, really significant in the grand scheme of things. In the back of local people’s minds, they’ll be thinking, a small number of new houses each year is fine but we have thousands to deal with in the future.
“Ultimately the only way to get a new local housing plan is to vote Labour and get rid of what is frankly an incompetent Borough Council.”
