“In the aftermath of the three terrorist incidents we need to increase the number of police officers. Theresa May made a serious error by cutting one in five police officers in Warwickshire,” said the outspoken Labour candidate Julie Jackson speaking to people in Polesworth.

“In an important move to protect our security, Labour pledges to increase police officers by 10,000 and to create 1000 extra posts in the MI5 within 5 years. So, under Labour Warwickshire Police numbers will rise again.

“Importantly, Labour have also pledged to ensure the police have full authority to use whatever force is necessary, including guns, to protect and save lives in the face of terrorism.

“For five years, the Police Federation has warned Theresa May that cuts have left the Police overstretched and short staffed, but she dismissed them as ‘crying wolf’. The reality is that we are less safe with fewer police officers. We will be safer with more police officers. Only Labour has pledged this increase in police numbers.

“The Conservative have cut the Police and at the same time they cut taxes for Big Business and millionaires. People don’t realise just how much the Tories gave to their friends in the last few years. Labour will reverse that. We will increase taxes for big business and millionaires.  That will pay the cost of more police.  It is also enough to fund more teachers and more nurses. 95% of people need pay no more taxes to get the improved public services we need.

“The only tax cut promised in the Conservative Manifesto is to cut corporation tax for Big Business. No wonder Big Business funds the Conservative Party. If elected the Tories will continue to cut public services in the next five years. This toxic Conservative cycle of cuts in public services to pay for tax cuts for Big Business must stop.  What is at stake in the election is important. People must vote realising that.”
