Coleshill has a new youth club and that is great news for everyone in our town. We lost our County Council run youth club someyears ago so this new venture brings back a youth club that can only be of benefit to the whole community.

As a Councillor I sometimes receive comments about young people causing mischief, noise or nuisance but often those comments are followed with the line, “well I suppose there is nothing else for them to do locally”. Well now there is and it means young people have somewhere to go, activities to enjoy, a safe place to socialise and a place to meet new friends.

The establishment of a youth club means parents will be able to rest easy knowing their kids have a safe and enjoyable place to go on a Friday evening. This can only be a good thing.

The Town Council working in partnership with Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action is setting up the youth club. It’s being achieved at a fraction of the cost of the previous youth centre and will provide young people with a venue every Friday evening that also offers a large outdoor space so that sporting activities can also be part of the offer we make to our young people.

The new youth club will formally launch on Friday 6th May at Coleshill Community Centre on Temple Way. Please do share the news, let your kids know, let your grandkids know and let the neighbours know because this is a positive move forward for Coleshill and our young people.

The Council is contracting an organisation to provide qualified youth workers for the Friday evening sessions but we’re always looking for volunteers to come forward and share their skills, knowledge and experience. You can contact the Council on 01675 463 326 for more information.
