North Warwickshire Borough Council has been recongised nationally for its refuse collection service. The Council came second inthe APSE Performance Networks Awards out of 200 councils across the country.
Councillor Hayden Phillips, Labour Councillor for Wood End, said
“This is great news for the Council and the people of North Warwickshire. The last Labour administration set about changing our recycling and refuse system. In 2011 the Conservative administration left office with some of the worst recycling rates in the country.
Labour changed the system, removing the previous red recycling boxes and replacing them with a streamlined system of three bins collected alternative weeks. Recycling in North Warwickshire is now over 50% and this national recognition is further proof that Labour got it right on refuse and recycling in North Warwickshire.
I’d like to congratulate the officers and staff at the Council who have worked extremely hard over the last few years to change the system and provide a high quality service to residents of North Warwickshire.”
