After the election, Julie Jackson issued the following statement,

“I congratulate the winner. I am enormously grateful to the 18,350 people who voted Labour in the general election in this constituency. I’m also grateful to the many people who knocked doors, delivered leaflets and helped in my campaign. Labour did not win in North Warwickshire and Bedworth, but across the country there was a strong move toward Labour.

“It looks like there might be a general election, either later this year or next year. Theresa May has no mandate for anything at the moment. At a time when Britain is facing Brexit and enormous challenges, we have sadly ended up with the ‘weak and wobbly’ Prime Minister we feared and warned about.

“By contrast, Jeremy Corbyn fought a strong campaign and Labour is in a stronger position for the next election, whenever it comes.

“I live in this constituency, I’m a local councillor and I will continue campaigning for the values of social justice and equality I believe in.   Change will come, we may just need to wait a little longer.”

I think you are right about the need for another election, next time if you are going to run a negative campaign (which is your choice) I think your critique of the sitting MP needs greater substantiation as I am sure it cost votes this time
