Polesworth Pavilion campaign gains pace

Polesworth Borough Councillors Mick Stanley and Emma Stanley say the campaign for a new Pavilion in Polesworth is growing following a public meeting in the village.

Councillor Mick Stanley, who represents Polesworth East said,

"I was really pleased with the turnout at the meeting as it shows there is a real desire for a facility like this in Polesworth. We want to create a campaign group, organisation or association so we can make a proper bid to the authorities and get the pavilion that will bring the most benefit to the area.

We will be applying to the Borough Council to see if we can get any funding or 106 money from other developments to get this built. We also want people to come forward with ideas on what they want the centre to be. Other villages have been able to pull together to get the facilities they need and this shows it can be done. We want all people to come forward so we can discuss all the options available and move forward."

Parish Council Chair, Cllr Dave Butcher said

"The parish council fully supports this idea. Polesworth is a growing community and if you combine it with Dordon it is probably one of the largest in North Warwickshire. We have a lot of community groups in Polesworth and there is a real need to have this centre rebuilt.

It was a real shock when the pavilion caught fire just before Christmas and it had to be demolished on safety grounds. We need to create this campaign group so we have a firm foundation for applying for funding. We can't shout on our own, we all need to shout with the same voice to be heard."
