Hawkesbury Village School Transport

A school mini bus transporting children from Hawkesbury Village to local schools is to finish at the end of March after serving thecommunity for many years. Children will now have to cross the unmanned level crossing at Blackhorse Road, walk along Coventry Road and then get across the traffic junction at Bayton Road.

County Councillor Julie Jackson was approached by Hawkesbury Village Residents Association to see whether the County Council could review the route under its Safer Routes to School programme.

Julie said:

“I have asked that this route be formally reviewed. It does not fulfil the distance requirement for free transport but how on earth are children expected to safely cross one of the busiest junctions in Bedworth with no support. There is no pedestrian phase at the lights and trying to get across at peak hours is a nightmare. The Residents Association, parents, young people, local Councillors and I are all keen to see the results of the review in the very near future. The safety of our young people is my priority."
